The Nantaru Market is an old-fashioned market that was established back in 1949. Known as “Otaru’s kitchen,” the place is constantly packed with excited locals and travelers. Visitors regularly come all the way from Sapporo to partake in the market’s fresh bounty of produce and seafood. Stalls selling fresh fish, marine products, fruits, vegetables, and meat intermingle with vendors hawking sweets, baked goods, and a variety of other unique goods, including an ikebana (flower arrangement) shop.
