OVERVIEW

Daisetsuzan National Park preserves the Daisetsuzan mountain range, which has long been loved by mountaineers. This mountainous area is home to an abundance of alpine plants and wildlife, such as the brown bear, the deer and the rare Japanese Pika, which is said to have been alive at the time of the last ice age.

By using a ropeway and chair lift, we are able to visit the forest limit area, the 7th station of Mt. Kurodake. A refreshing nature walk is available around the area while observing the traces of wildlife and ecosystem.

ITINERARY

Your tour operator  will pick you up at a hotel in Sapporo in the morning (8:00 am), and start the 3-hour-drive to Souunkyo, Daisetsuzan National Park. Some short stops at highway rest areas After meeting your mountain guide and a short visit to a local nature center, you will take a ropeway over the breathtaking autumn forest to the 5th station of Mt. Kurodake.

Taking a chair lift to the 7th station of Mt. Kurodake at 1,510m above sea level, we will start the guided hike. Your guide will talk about the unique and diverse nature throughout the approximate 2-km long hike in the area of the forest limits. You can enjoy “forest bathing” (shinrin-yoku) as well. We will return to the lower ropeway station by taking a chair lift and another ropeway.

A bus will be waiting for you at the mount foot ropeway station at around 3:00 pm, to take you to Sapporo with a stop for a short rest at a highway rest area.
