OVERVIEW

The tour will take anglers to the headwaters of the Tokachi River in Daisetsuzan National Park, where unspoiled nature still remains, to encounter Hokkaido‘s native Salvelinus malma, a species that has lived in this area since ancient times, using the traditional Japanese fishing technique of Tenkara (traditional Japanese fly fishing).

We will then bathe in Tomuraushi Onsen, a secluded hot spring located in the headwaters of Hokkaido’s iconic Tokachi River, which is the natural habitat of the Salvelinus malma. Here we will experience the beauty of the changing seasons and the bounty of the earth with all five senses.

ITINERARY

Tenkara fishing (Traditional Japanese fly fishing)

We will meet an English Speaking Representative at Sapporo Station. A chartered coach will be waiting for us there, and our tour starts once we are on the bus. On the bus, the representative will give us an introduction to Tokachi River and Tomuraushi, so that once we arrive we can be set to start our exploration. After our 3 hour and a half bus ride, we will arrive at Yama-no-Koryukan Tomura in town of Shintoku.

Around the headwaters of the Tokachi River, there are few man-made structures, and the natural ecology remains untouched. This is a unique opportunity to experience fishing for native trout in a rich natural environment, using the traditional Japanese fly-fishing technique of Tenkara.

After we finish out 2 hour Tenkara fishing experience, we will head to Tomuraushi Onsen. Tomraushi Onsen is a “hidden hot spring” located in the middle of the wilderness at the foot of Mt. Here you will bathe in and open air bath set in the midst of magnificent nature while gazing at the Youtomurausi River, which forms a part of the Tokachi River System where you fished earlier in the day.
