Sobetsu Town is located in the southwestern part of Hokkaido, within the Shikotsu-Toya National Park and Toya-Usu UNESCO Global Geopark. It takes about 2.5 hours by car from Sapporo or 1.5 hours from New Chitose Airport.

Nature view of Sobetsu
We have many geosites such as Mt. Showa-Shinzan, which was formed by volcanic activity. If you ride the Usuzan Ropeway, which takes 6 minutes from the base station to the summit station, you can see Mt. Showa-Shinzan, Lake Toya, Mt. Yotei, and Mt. Usu during the ride. From the summit station, you can walk along a 1.1 km footpath and enjoy a panoramic view of the crater, Lake Toya, and the Pacific Ocean.
