Teshio River – Recreational River
Teshio River, where added to the Hokkaido Heritage List, runs a total length of 256 km south to north across Northern Hokkaido.
The class-one river is ideal for canoeists because there are no dams in its path and offers a 160 km canoe trip, the longest jaunt for canoeists in Japan.
Lake Shumarinai – where phantom Sakhalin Taimen live
Lake Shumarinai area is surrounded by a rich natural environment because it’s designated as a Hokkaido prefectural nature park. The lake with 13 islands of various sizes has a unique atmosphere. It is called “a mysterious lake” because endangered wild Sakhalin Taimen live.
