A Taste of Fall in the Spring – HOKKAIDO LOVE!
dummy

Taking in the beautiful colors of the autumnal foliage might sound like something exclusive to the latter part of the year, but you might be surprised to hear that those vibrant reds are around for viewing earlier in Biei. From early April to mid-May, the Haru Momiji show off their spring colors in Biei. During this short period of time, a natural phenomenon takes place where the trees lack the chlorophyll to turn their leaves green. Red and orange pigments cover up the green ones, making for a fall-like sight in early spring. To catch this incredible sight, drive up to Akabane Seidai Dam. There you can enjoy the best view, merely a ten-minute journey from JR Furano Line Biei Station.
