From early April to mid-May, the Haru Momiji show off their spring colors in Biei. During this short period of time, a natural phenomenon takes place where the trees lack the chlorophyll to turn their leaves green. Red and orange pigments cover up the green ones, making for a fall-like sight in early spring. To catch this incredible sight, drive up to Akabane Seidai Dam.
