Beautiful Island Scenery at Himenuma

Himenuma, or “Hime Marsh”, on the northern Rishiri Island, is surrounded by primeval forest tumbling down the slopes of the magnificent Mt. Rishiri. On clear days, this spot offers a unique opportunity to view Mt. Rishiri upside down in the reflective waters of the marsh. Early morning is the optimum time for a stroll and for snapping photos of the grand summit. The trail to the scenic photo spot at Hime Marsh ambles through trees full of birds singing their daybreak chorus.
