Bekanbeushi Wetland – An Important Waterfowl Habitat Registered Under the Ramsar Convention – HOKKAIDO LOVE!
dummy

A wetland registered under the Ramsar Convention in June 1993, along with Lake Akkeshi. It is known to be one of the spots with the most beautiful scenery along the Hanasaki Line. A wetland comprised of a low moor, with its reeds and sedges; a high moor, with its moorwort, cranberry, etc.; and mid-level moors in between. A nesting ground for Japanese cranes. Because there are no observatories on the wetlands, or anything that lets you overlook the area, we recommend the guided canoe tour if you want to see the wetlands up close.
