Relish the magic and tranquility of the Kushiro Wetland in winter from inside a canoe. Don a dry suit to stay warm despite the frigid water, then push off from shore and glide through the waters of the Kushiro River as it meanders through the wetland. Keep your eyes peeled for pairs of white-tailed eagles as you float along. Next up is the Arekinai River. Expect to catch sight of the local wildlife along this waterway bordered by dense forest. The final stage of the 6-kilometer course takes you to the canoe port on Lake Toro.
