Held from late January to late March
For almost 40 years, Lake Shikaribetsu has been home to a spectacular winter festival that takes place from January to March. Snowshoe, ski, or snowmobile across the lake and through the forest, then relax in one of the many igloos built for this festive occasion. The festival has many crowd-pleasing venues, but perhaps none more than an outdoor hot spring built especially for party-goers. In the evening, grab a drink at a bar made entirely of ice, catch a concert in a frozen hall, or even sleep in an igloo illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight.
