Hakodate Salt Ramen: One of Hokkaido’s Three Famous Ramens – HOKKAIDO LOVE!
dummy

Hakodate Shio (salt) ramen is known across Japan as one of Hokkaido’s must-try ramens, along with Sapporo’s miso ramen and Asahikawa’s soy sauce ramen. This delicious soup bowl made its appearance in 1884, leading some to suggest it may be one of the very first types of Japanese ramen! There are over 150 restaurants in Hakodate serving the famous thin noodles and clear delicate soup, made from pork bones, chicken broth, kelp, and potherbs. But, be careful, just one bowl is enough to get you hooked, and you might find yourself having ramen for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the duration of your stay!
