Hike Mt. Me-akan from Nonaka Onsen to Lake Onneto

Located southwest of Lake Akan, Mt. Me-akan is the main peak of the Akan Mountain Group. Volcanic activity in the area started approximately 20,000 years ago, and repeated eruptions have created complex mountain structures. The route for this guided hike, which boasts an ascent of approximately 3.3 kilometers and a descent of approximately 4.2 kilometers, begins at the Nonaka Onsen hot-spring inn. The trailhead is surrounded by a forest brimming with moss and Sakhalin spruce. From the third station, enjoy a spectacular view from among the creeping pines. The descent towards Lake Onneto follows the crater wall before passing through the forest.
