Nikka Whisky Distillery: Japan’s Whisky Mecca

Welcome to the distillery of one of the most famous brands of Japanese whisky, Nikka Whisky. Located in Otaru’s neighboring town of Yoichi, the distillery is a popular spot that attracts whisky fans from across Japan and beyond. Yoichi was originally chosen by the brand’s founder, Masataka Taketsuru, who was searching for a cold location, similar to the Scottish highlands, with fresh water and the right humidity for his drink of choice.
