Pierce the Frozen Seas on the Garinko II – HOKKAIDO LOVE!
dummy

During the end of January, the Okhotsk Sea is covered in large frozen chunks of drift ice. Around this time, the Garinko II icebreaker ship sets sail from Mombetsu Port, outfitted with two massive drills that pierce the frozen seas. Passengers aboard the Garinko II get to witness this natural phenomenon first hand, occasionally being lucky enough to get a peek of the local winter wildlife. White-tailed eagles fly gracefully above the icy shelves as adorable seals doze in the winter sun.
