Make sure to visit Tokachigawa Onsen’s rare “moor hot springs,” which are baths that contain ancient plant matter and leave skin silky smooth after a soak. At this spa, visitors are allowed to wear swimsuits, which is normally not permitted in hot spring baths. Due to this exception, guests to the spa can relax with their entire family in the same spring. In addition to baths, Tokachi Onsen has four on-site restaurants, which offer a variety of Tokachi cuisine that uses local produce. Nearby, there is a charming local market that sells uncured meats and unique souvenirs. Visitors that are feeling creative can try out one of the cheese-making workshops as well.
