Held from early to mid-May
This seven-kilometer stretch of road in Shinhidaka is flanked by 3,000 beautifully blooming cherry blossom trees every spring. Thousands of visitors flock from across Japan to catch a glimpse of this renowned cherry blossom spot, ranked as one of the tops in Japan. The blossom-viewing season is short and normally begins in early May. At the center of Nijukken Road sits the “Flower Tunnel,” which is a collection of fluffy pink blossoms so dense that they blot out the sun. The Shizunai Cherry Blossom Festival, held during peak cherry blossom season, brings excitement and festivities to Shinhidaka every spring.
