The Goryokaku Fortress is dressed in twinkling yellow lights every winter for the “Hoshi no Yume Illumination” event, which takes place from December to February. This star-shaped fortress is lit with over 2,000 lights, highlighting the fortresses’ unique shape and bringing it alive against the dark winter nights. Viewed from the Goryokaku Tower observation deck, the fortress is most beautiful after it snows, causing the lights to glitter against the fresh powder.
