Toyako Onsen Illumination Tunnel

Held from early November to early March

During this special illumination event each year, Toyako Onsen area becomes a veritable winter wonderland as the road leading to the lakeside is lit up by 12,000 gleaming blue and white lights. These lights bathe the area in a twinkling festive glow, which can only be experienced during the winter months. Every November, a 70 meter-long tunnel of lights is also constructed at the center of the hot spring town. Visitors warm from the hot spring baths should take the chance to stroll along this magical tunnel of light.
