Why Hokkaido?
1. Cool Temperatures
Hokkaido, Japan’s northern-most island. In contrast to other regions of Asia and the rest of Japan, Hokkaido’s relatively cool, dry summers and vast areas of land make for the perfect golfing environment!
The best season for golf in Hokkaido starts in May and lasts until October. The climate of Hokkaido is cooler and less humid compared to other regions in Japan; the average summer temperature in Sapporo is typically 4 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than that of Tokyo or Osaka. Hokkaido’s cool summer temperatures definitely make for a perfect round!

2. Easy and Comfortable Access
There are many golf courses located around New Chitose Airport, Hokkaido’s main hub airport; approximately 30 of Hokkaido’s golf resorts are located within an hour’s drive from New Chitose Airport.
There are also a wide range of golf courses across Hokkaido, varying from hilly, seaside and riverside courses. Expressways provide direct links between the airport and many of Hokkaido’s golf courses, providing easy and comfortable access by rental car or taxi. All together the island boasts 150 golf courses to choose from; another great reason to choose Hokkaido as your new favorite golfing destination!
3. Fabulous Gourmet Food
Fresh seafood, fruit and soft-serve ice cream; the unforgettable taste of summer in Hokkaido, perfectly complemented by locally brewed beers, wines and sakes enjoyed on a perfectly cool summers day. Many of the golf courses include restaurant facilities where you can taste original Hokkaido cuisine made from local produce, such as: delicious ramen noodles made from 100% (one hundred percent) local flour, Tokachi Beef, Yume Pirika Hokkaido Rice and so on.
Sapporo Beer is provided at most restaurants, and all-you-can-eat garden style “Genghis Khan” Barbeque is available at some clubhouses.
