Established 100 years ago in Hakodate, a port town that has thrived for centuries, Yumoto Takubokutei is an accommodation facility at the Yunokawa Hot Springs. Their specialties are the “communal hot spring bath up in the sky, Unkai” and the “outdoor hot spring bath up in the air, Isaribi,” both located on the building’s top floor. From “Unkai,” you will be treated to a night view of Hakodate lit up against the dark sky. From “Isaribi,” visitors can enjoy the scene of squid fishers using fishing fire lure to make their catches, as well as Hakodate’s beautiful beach. The restaurant serves a buffet made from local ingredients and seafood with live-cooking demonstrations by the chef. While you are here, you should visit the Matsuoka Garden at least once. Masterfully maintained, the garden features several 100-year-old trees and unique scenery that changes with the seasons.
