Peak lavender season is mid-July. Blooming periods differ by variety, but it's usually best from late June to early August. Also, planting locations, e.g. sloped or flat, and styles differ, so there is a huge variety of flower gardens to enjoy. There are souvenir shops and places to eat, so plan to spend a good 2-3 hours wandering around.

Scenic Biei Hill Riding

湿原、独特な温泉が楽しめる豊富

The hills of Biei are basically divided in 2. The northwest side is a patchwork region often used for commercials and product packages, while the southeast has panoramic views of beautiful hills against the backdrop of Mt. Tokachi. The Biei countryside is wide open with gentle hills, and highly recommended for cycling.

  1. 1Shikisai-no-oka
This enormous, very popular flower garden boasts over 50 kinds of blossoms. Their soft-serve made from fresh Biei milk and beef and potato croquettes are also a big hit!
