The latticed windbreak forest extends over Nakashibetsu Town, Shibetsu Town, Seikai Town, Shibecha Town, a windbreak forest where a forest zone with a width of 180 m follows a grid pattern with a length of 3 km per side. The longest straight line distance is about 27 km, the total extension is 648 km, and its full size is so magnificent that it can be said that it can be confirmed only from outer space. It was planted by Hokkaido pioneering use from the end of the Taisho era to the early Showa era, and it has been around 80 years now also preventing winds, fogs and snowstorms and supporting the lives of local residents. The big scale scenery that the predecessors made can be confirmed partly from the Koyo platform.
