Behold the Majesty of Winter at Lake Mashu – HOKKAIDO LOVE!
dummy

In winter, Lake Mashu becomes a frozen, mist-covered wonderland where subzero temperatures cause fog vapor to freeze onto tree branches, covering them in shimmering rime ice. The area around the Mashu and Kussharo calderas is one of the coldest in Japan. When the wind is weak, cold air collects inside the rims of the calderas, causing the temperature to plummet as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius. This transforms the surrounding area into a world of ice, creating a glistening, stunningly beautiful landscape.
