Impeccably preserved Japanese architecture
The Aoyama family amassed a fortune through herring fishing and used their wealth to build this stunning villa. Japan’s finest craftsmen at the time spent 6 years perfecting the wood-frame construction, and famous artists adorned the interior with original painting, calligraphy and more than 2,000 panes of handmade glass. The restaurant serves traditional herring cuisine, a reminder of how the family made its fortune.
