The marriage of art and architecture
Otaru Art Base occupies four historical buildings dating back to the early 1920s when the once prominent port town was at its peak. Formerly banks and warehouses, these buildings now house an art collection that ranges from traditional Japanese to Art Deco, with an especially impressive collection of stained glass works by Art Nouveau artist and designer, Louis Comfort Tiffany.
