Upopoy Ainu Museum

A Museum Celebrating Hokkaido's Indigenous People

Newly opened in July of 2020, Upopoy National Ainu Museum is the first nationally run facility dedicated to the Ainu, the indigenous people of Hokkaido. There’s so much to see and do; see traditional dance performances, experience traditional art and craftwork or explore the diversity of the contemporary Ainu culture. Many activities take place outdoors, giving an authentic experience of the culture of the first people of Hokkaido.
